About The Photographer...

My photo
Helen has been a freelance documentary and travel photographer for 4 years after completing her MA in Visual Anthropology at the University of Manchester, UK. Since then, she has travelled extensively around the world photographing different people and their cultures. Her love of anthropology has help stimulate a strong portfolio of work focusing of issues close to her heart. Her first project utilized anthropological methods to investigate the bodily aesthetics of burlesque performers discovering even the most confident of women sometimes have low self esteem. Helen is also a strong female activist and writes a blog voicing her opinions on the lack of female rights at home and across the world. http://toomuchvenusenvy.blogspot.com/

Memory in Manchester

This is a project using photography and soundscapes intertwined to convey memory in Manchester after the IRA bomb. I have added the soundscape as a movie file and am in the process of combining both the images and the sound together on one file. Enjoy.

The following photographs are of the initial bomb blast taken in 1999 (from the internet)
